Lisa’s Country Garden

Posted July 21st, 2010 by nkristis

Shortly after I had started gardening, I was hanging out with my friend when I suddenly noticed her plethora of plants. She had large, bushy plants throughout the house. I guess I never noticed until I started gardening myself how effortlessly she was growing plants. Her green thumb has extended to her backyard as well. The combination of her retro style and her boyfriend’s carpenter skills have created this homey and colorful backyard garden.
Behind the cute wooden fence is her vegetable garden. I love the horseshoe over the entrance. They added the fence this year to protect the raised beds from their dogs.

Along the fence she keeps containers for herbs such as rosemary, thyme, tarragon, basil and sage.

She had a number of flowers as well like this patch of echinacea.

Special thanks to Lisa for letting me tour her garden.

Kniphofias

I received this dwarf Kniphofia from Carrie at Read Between the Limes She received a number of rare plants from Fitzgerald nurseries. She gave me three dwarf varieties of different colors. It normally doesn’t bloom it’s first year. I mistreated this plant horribly by planting in partial sun and dry soil next to the compost piles. Once I saw it was blooming I moved it to the community plot.
