Ah, Bath Salts Take Me Away

After many years of living in apartments with questionable hot water; I am now living in a home and have rediscovered the joys of bath time. My neck and shoulder muscles where so sore after a stressful week that when I found an old unused container of bath salts I thought what the heck. After only a few minutes of soaking in the tub the soreness was gone. Unfortunately, my magic container of bath salts is gone and the company no longer makes them.  While looking at the ingredient list I realized that this could be a simple home project.  Bath salts usually sell for 10 dollars or more however the main ingredient salt is very cheap and affordable. I have been experimenting with different recipes and this is the one I am currently using. Most recipes say to add food coloring or dye to the recipe I opted not to do this however it might be something to experiment with if you are giving them away as a gift.

Kristi’s Bath Salts

  • In a large bowl mix to combine: 6 parts coarse sea salt; 3 parts epsom salts (to alleviate sore muscles), and 1 part baking soda (to soften water).
  • Add a few drops of essential oils (popular choices lemon, euclaptus, lavender).
  • Mix until well blended put in a sealed jar.

Hey, great recipe! If your not into its plain white color, you can add some to it by adding non-toxic dyes or food coloring. Just add in small amounts to get more control on how dark you want the bath salts to end up.
